Company description::
The project, a full turn-key repeatered system spanning over 1400km connecting Iceland, Faroe Islands, and Scotland has been completed within a one year timeframe and is initially equipped to transmit a capacity of 20 Gb/s, upgradable up to 720 Gb/s.
The state of the art wet plant supplied, including submarine cable, submersible repeaters and branching unit, has been entirely designed and manufactured by Pirelli in Italy.
The use of the newly built cable ship, Pertinacia, operated by Elettra (a Company of the Telecom Italia Group) allowed Pirelli to successfully meet the severe standards required for marine installation in the North Atlantic.
This successful completion of the Farice system, in addition to ongoing projects in the Mediterranean, Middle East and South East Asia, is an additional confirmation of Pirelli capabilities to supply turn-key submarine systems both with repeaterless and repeatered technology, in the worldwide market.
